翻刻

　棋局高尺許脚二三寸面厚七八寸極堅重使不傾
　側黒子磨黧石為之白子磨螺蛤頂骨為之人皆善
　奕謂之悟棋下時不用四角黒白勢子局終数空眼
　多少以定虧嬴不数実子也亦有象棋

　士夫家有一榼或朱或黒滲金間采製作甚精郊飲
　各携一具中四器置食物旁置酒壺一盞一筯二諸
　具略備民家食榼或方或円皆作三四層刳木為之

現代語訳

棋局は高さ一尺ほど、脚は二、三寸、盤面の厚さは七、八寸で極めて堅固で重く、傾くことがないように作られている。黒石は黧石を磨いて作り、白石は螺や蛤の頂骨を磨いて作る。人々は皆囲碁が上手で、これを「悟棋」と呼ぶ。対局の際は四隅を使わず、黒白の勢子で打ち、局終了時には空眼の多少を数えて勝敗を決める。実際の石の数は数えない。象棋もある。

榼

士大夫の家には榼が一つあり、朱色のものや黒色のものがあり、金を滲ませ彩色を交えて製作は甚だ精巧である。野外での飲食の際には各々一具を携帯し、中に四つの器があって食物を置き、傍らに酒壺一つ、盃一つ、箸二本を置き、諸道具が大体揃っている。民家の食榼は方形や円形があり、皆三、四層に作られ、木を刳り抜いて作る。

英語訳

The chess board is about one shaku in height, with legs of two to three sun, and the board surface is seven to eight sun thick, extremely solid and heavy to prevent tilting. Black stones are made by polishing li stone, and white stones are made by polishing the crown bone of conch shells and clams. All people are skilled at go, which they call "goki" (enlightenment chess). When playing, they do not use the four corners, playing with black and white stones, and at the end of the game they count the number of empty intersections to determine victory or defeat, not counting the actual stones. They also have xiangqi (Chinese chess).

Food Boxes

Scholar-official families have one kaku (food box), either vermillion or black in color, with gold inlay and various colors applied, crafted with great precision. During outdoor dining, each person carries one set, which contains four vessels for placing food, with one wine pot, one cup, and two chopsticks placed alongside, with various utensils generally complete. Commoner families' food boxes are either square or round, all made in three or four tiers, carved from wood.
