　燭灯木底四方格上寛下窄白紙糊之而空其上施
　木柄釘柱上雖大風不致滅燭也王宮内所用皆然
　民間灯多不用燭以木作灯四方糊紙高木座篭油
　碟其中置地席上　燭如黄蝋而色黒国中有油樹
　取其子榨油為之

　蕉扇円者為日扇男子用之婦人用者欠其傍如欠
　月状名月扇

　摺畳扇名櫂子扇即倭扇也皆単辺無寛辺者麤細
　不等有絶佳者本国官民冬夏用之横揷大帯間以
　為飾又有折腰扇扇骨両截下合上開僧人所用

現代語訳

灯（燭）

燭灯は木製の底で四角い格子状になっており、上が広く下が狭い形で白紙を貼り、上部は空けておいて木の柄を付け、柱に釘で固定する。大風が吹いても燭が消えることはない。王宮内で使用されるものは皆このようである。民間の灯は多くは燭を用いず、木で灯を作り四角く紙を貼り、高い木製の台座に油皿を籠のように入れ、これを地面の席の上に置く。燭は黄蝋のようであるが色は黒い。国中に油樹があり、その実を取って油を搾り、これで燭を作る。

扇

芭蕉扇で円いものは日扇といい、男子が用いる。婦人が用いるものはその傍を欠いて欠月の状のようにしたもので、月扇と名付ける。

摺畳扇は櫂子扇と名付け、すなわち倭扇である。皆単辺で寛辺のものはない。粗細は一定でなく、非常に優れたものもある。本国の官民は冬夏を問わず用い、大帯の間に横に挿して飾りとする。また折腰扇があり、扇骨が二つに分かれて下は合わさり上は開く形で、僧人が所用する。

Lamps (Candles)

Candle lamps have wooden bases in a square lattice pattern, wider at the top and narrower at the bottom, covered with white paper, with the top left open and fitted with a wooden handle nailed to a post. Even in strong winds, the candles do not go out. All those used in the royal palace are like this. Common people's lamps mostly do not use candles; instead, they make lamps from wood in a square shape covered with paper, with oil dishes placed basket-like in tall wooden stands, which are set on floor mats. The candles are like yellow wax but black in color. There are oil trees throughout the country, and oil is extracted from their seeds to make these candles.

Fans

Round plantain fans are called day fans and are used by men. Those used by women have one side cut away to resemble a crescent moon shape and are called moon fans.

Folding fans are called櫂子扇(paddle fans), which are Japanese fans. They all have single edges with no wide edges. The thickness varies, and some are exceptionally fine. Officials and commoners of this country use them in both winter and summer, inserting them horizontally in their wide sashes as decoration. There are also折腰扇(bent-waist fans) where the fan ribs are divided into two sections - joined at the bottom and opening at the top - which are used by monks.
