　[名護蘭]葉短而厚与桂葉同大僅如指三四月開花

現代語訳

【名護蘭】葉は短くて厚く、桂の葉と同じ大きさでわずかに指ほど。三、四月に開花し蘭と異ならない。一本の花茎に八、九朶が攢まって開き、香りは清越で蘭に勝る。名護岳の巌石間に産し、水土を必要とせず、あるいは樹の股に寄生し、あるいは棕櫚の皮で包んで懸ける。また【風蘭】があり、葉は蘭より比較的長く、香りは山奈や茴香のよう。竹を編んで鉢とし風前に懸け挂けると極めて繁殖しやすい。俗に皆蘭を尚び、孔子花と号する。

【粟蘭】一名を芷蘭という。葉は鳳尾のようで花は珍珠蘭のよう。また【松蘭】【竹蘭】【棒蘭】《割書：状は珊瑚樹のようで緑色、葉なし。》《割書：花は股間から出て蘭に似るがより小さい》がある。

【野牡丹】土名を𦬯花という。葉は牡丹と異ならず、二、三月に花が開いて叢をなし累々として鈴鐸のよう。白い花弁に紫の暈、檀色の心で碗ほどの大きさ、極めて芳烈である。その葉を嚼むと口香とする。大平山に産する。また【野海棠】【仙人竿】【箒桃】【野蘭】《割書：即ち中国の》《割書：青蘘》がある。

【文萱花】一名を歓冬花という。花は萱花のようだが特に小さく、葉に青白相間の紋がある。

【山蘓花】一名を猿莚花という。花なく幹なく、土から出て長さ一尺に及ばず、葉は芭蕉のようだが小さく堅厚で紋がある。

【雷山花】土名を吉茄という。葉は鉄梗海棠のようで、花は牽牛花のようだがやや小さく鴉翠色。四、五月に開いて十一月まで続き、豆のような子を結ぶ。苞は榴房のようで数十粒の子を蔵し、種として用いることができる。

英語訳

【Nago orchid】Leaves are short and thick, the same size as osmanthus leaves, barely finger-length. Blooms in the third and fourth months, no different from orchids. Eight to nine clusters bloom together on one stem, with a clear and superior fragrance that surpasses orchids. It grows among the rocks and cliffs of Mount Nago, requiring no soil or water, sometimes growing parasitically on tree branches or wrapped in palm bark and suspended. There is also 【wind orchid】with leaves relatively longer than orchids, fragrant like galanga or fennel. When planted in bamboo baskets and hung in the wind, it propagates extremely easily. The common people all value orchids and call them "Confucius flowers."

【Millet orchid】Also called shiran. Leaves are like phoenix tails and flowers like pearl orchids. There are also【pine orchid】【bamboo orchid】【stick orchid】《marginal note: Shaped like coral trees, green in color, without leaves.》《marginal note: Flowers emerge from branch joints, resembling orchids but smaller》.

【Wild peony】Local name is 𦬯 flower. Leaves are no different from peonies. Flowers bloom in clusters in the second and third months, hanging abundantly like bells. White petals with purple hues, sandalwood-colored center, bowl-sized, extremely fragrant. Chewing the leaves serves as mouth freshener. Grows on Mount Taihei. There are also【wild begonia】【immortal pole】【broom peach】【wild orchid】《marginal note: namely Chinese》《marginal note: qingnang》.

【Patterned day lily】Also called winter joy flower. Flowers are like day lilies but particularly small, with leaves having blue and white alternating patterns.

【Mountain perilla flower】Also called monkey mat flower. No flowers, no trunk, emerging from soil growing less than one shaku tall, leaves like banana but smaller, firm and thick with patterns.

【Thunder mountain flower】Local name is lucky eggplant. Leaves like iron-stem begonia, flowers like morning glory but somewhat smaller, crow-jade colored. Blooms from fourth and fifth months until eleventh month, bearing bean-like seeds. Pods are like pomegranate chambers containing dozens of seeds that can be planted.
