　[吉姑羅]一名火鳳人家牆上多植之以辟火幹似覇
　王鞭草葉似慎火草花似黄菊亦有紅者名福禄木
　果有藕蔗西瓜青瓜木瓜橘《割書：数｜品》香橙金柑仏手茘枝
　竜眼葡萄桜桃楊梅覆盆子《割書：形如｜楊梅》栗柿核桃枇杷梅

　[蕉実]芭蕉所結実名甘露花紫紅色大如瓢日開一

　可造蓆根可造索開花者為男木花白若蓮弁合尖

現代語訳

【吉姑羅】一名火鳳、人家の牆上に多く之を植えて以て火を辟く。幹は覇王鞭に似、草葉は慎火草に似、花は黄菊に似る。また紅いものもあり福禄木と名づく。

果物には藕、蔗、西瓜、青瓜、木瓜、橘《割書：数》《割書：品》、香橙、金柑、仏手、茘枝、竜眼、葡萄、桜桃、楊梅、覆盆子《割書：形は》《割書：楊梅の如し》、栗、柿、核桃、枇杷、梅《割書：小さきこと》《割書：竜眼の如し》がある。異産には蕉実等がある。

【蕉実】芭蕉の結ぶ実で甘露花と名づく。紫紅色で大きさは瓢のようである。日に一弁を開き、手の五、六指が並び垂れるような実を結ぶ。採って久しくすると、膚理は藕の最も嫩いもののようになり、薯のように成熟させることができて甘い。

【阿呾呢】葉は長く傍らに刺があり、久しく林をなして連蔓し堅利で藩牆とすることができる。葉は蓆を造ることができ、根は索を造ることができる。開花するものを男木といい、花は白く蓮弁のように合尖し、左右に迸叠して十余朶が直上し、五椏の蘂が杖のように数寸の長さで露出し、橘花のように芳烈である。女木は花がなく実を結び、大きさは瓜のようで、膚には紋が起き釘は皆六稜で食べることができる。これは即ち波羅蜜の別種といい、粤東にもこれがあり鳳梨と名づく。

【櫧子】一名芝子、橡栗のようだが小さく、山中至る処にこれがある。一名椎子。

竹には苦竹、猫竹、虎斑竹、鳳竹、竿竹、箒竹、烏竹、大竿竹、矢竹、竻竹がある。異産には観音竹がある。

【観音竹】地に着いて叢生し、葉の長さは一尺許り、寛は三、四寸、紫色である。

英語訳

【Jigguluo】Also called fire phoenix, commonly planted on house walls to ward off fire. Trunk resembles king's whip, grass leaves resemble fire-cautious grass, flowers resemble yellow chrysanthemums. There are also red ones called fortune-prosperity wood.

Fruits include lotus root, sugar cane, watermelon, cucumber, papaya, tangerine《marginal note: several》《marginal note: varieties》, fragrant orange, kumquat, Buddha's hand citron, lychee, longan, grape, cherry, bayberry, raspberry《marginal note: shaped》《marginal note: like bayberry》, chestnut, persimmon, walnut, loquat, plum《marginal note: small as》《marginal note: longan》. Exotic products include banana fruit, etc.

【Banana fruit】Fruit produced by banana plants, called sweet dew flower. Purple-red in color, large as a gourd. Opens one petal daily, bearing fruit like five or six fingers of a hand hanging in parallel. After picking and storing for some time, the flesh becomes like the most tender lotus root, can be ripened like sweet potato and is sweet.

【Ateni】Leaves are long with thorns on the sides, eventually forming forests with interconnected vines that are firm and sharp, suitable for fencing walls. Leaves can be used to make mats, roots can be used to make rope. The flowering ones are called male trees, with white flowers like lotus petals coming to sharp points, bursting and layering left and right with more than ten clusters growing straight up, five-branched stamens exposed like staffs several inches long, as fragrant as orange blossoms. Female trees have no flowers but bear fruit large as melons, with raised patterns on the skin and all studs having six ridges, edible. This is said to be a different variety of jackfruit, also found in eastern Guangdong where it's called pineapple.

【Chinquapin nuts】Also called zhizi, like acorns but smaller, found everywhere in the mountains. Also called椎子 (zhizi).

Bamboo varieties include bitter bamboo, cat bamboo, tiger-spotted bamboo, phoenix bamboo, pole bamboo, broom bamboo, black bamboo, large pole bamboo, arrow bamboo, and 竻竹. Exotic varieties include Guanyin bamboo.

【Guanyin bamboo】Grows in clusters on the ground, leaves about one shaku long, three to four sun wide, purple in color.
