現代語訳

獣には牛、馬、羊、豕（豚）、犬、猫、鹿、猿、山豬（イノシシ）がいる。虎、兎、獐（ノロ）はいない。《割書：明一統志に》《割書：その土産と言う》《割書：熊、羆、豺、狼が》《割書：いるとあるが、今考えるに皆これなし》

家畜には鶏、鴨、鵝（ガチョウ）がいる。珍しい家畜には太和鶏があり、普通の鶏に比べて特に小さく、短足で長尾である。種は七島から出る。

鳥類には雀、烏、鴿（ハト）、鷺、鷗、鳬（カモ）、鵯、班鳩、緑鳩《割書：十二》《割書：月に来る》、野鳩、鶉、鴗《割書：俗に》《割書：呼ぶ》《割書：神》《割書：鳥》、田鳥、雉、鶺鴒、杜鵑、鴛鴦、燕がいる。七月に来るが人の屋に巣を作らない。鷹は九月中に東北風で外島から飄来する。雁は偶にいるが常には至らない。鶴は或いは一羽いることもあるが、これも稀にしか見られない。異鳥には古哈魯等がいる。

【古哈魯】金黄の毛羽で長い嘴、短い尾。四月に鳴く。

【麻石】翼羽は緑色で白い眉。九月に来る。また【伊石求子】は麻石に似る。

【烏鳳】一名王母鳥。四月に来る。

【恨煞】毛羽は鷹に似るがやや小さい。八月に来る。

【容蕋】翅は灰褐色で黒い頭。八月に来る。

【石求読】毛羽は雀に似る。十月に来て春に鳴く。

【莫読吏】緑色の毛。十月に来る。

虫には鼠、蝙蝠、蝎虎（ヤモリ）がいる。雀のような声を出すことができ、冬夏ともにそうである。蜥蜴は水池の中に生息し、赤い腹で背中に金光がある。また四脚の小さな青蛇もよく見られる。国中の蛇は最も毒があり、九月中に毎度出てきて人を傷つけ、人は立ちどころに死ぬ。《割書：前の使録には、その蛇は》《割書：人を傷つけないとあるが、そうではない》蚊

Domestic animals include chickens, ducks, and geese. Unusual domestic animals include Taihe chickens, which are particularly small compared to ordinary chickens, with short legs and long tails. The breed originates from the Seven Islands.

【Guharu】Golden-yellow plumage with long beak and short tail. Sings in April.

【Mashi】Wing feathers are green with white eyebrows. Comes in September. Also【Ishikyuushi】resembles mashi.

【Wufeng】Also called Queen Mother Bird. Comes in April.

【Hensha】Plumage resembles hawks but somewhat smaller. Comes in August.

【Yongrui】Wings are grayish-brown with black head. Comes in August.

【Ishikyudoku】Plumage resembles sparrows. Comes in October and sings in spring.

【Modokuri】Green plumage. Comes in October.

Insects include rats, bats, and gecko lizards. Geckos can make sounds like sparrows, both in winter and summer. Lizards live in water ponds with red bellies and golden light on their backs. There are also small four-legged green snakes commonly seen.
