現代語訳

まさに顛素と異ならない。思うにその国の僧はみな日本に遊学して帰り、その本国の子弟に書を教える。汪録に言うところの「すべて草書で隷字はない」というのは、今見ると果たしてその通りである。それが日本国の書であることは疑いない。

琉球語
【注記：臣】按ずるに前明嘉靖中の冊使陳侃の記録に云う、「夷語夷字があると称す」と。
付録の巻末に伝える写本は欠けていて未見である。万暦中の冊使夏子陽給諫の使録の刊本には琉語が載っている。

本朝の張学礼冊使もまた雑記中に略載している。今その本から少し訂正を加える。
対音は参差として、軽重清濁の間、終に訛りを免れることができない。

英語訳

Indeed no different from Diansu [Zhang Zhi's calligraphy style]. It is probably because the monks of that country all study in Japan and return to teach the children of their homeland calligraphy. What Wang Lu recorded, "all grass script with no clerical script," is indeed true when we observe it now. There is no doubt that it is Japanese script.

Ryukyu Language
[Marginal note: Minister] According to the record of the envoy Chen Kan during the Jiajing period of the former Ming, it says "there are said to be barbarian language and barbarian characters."
The manuscript copy transmitted at the end of the appendix is incomplete and has not been seen. The printed edition of the envoy record by Xia Ziyang, Remonstrance Official, during the Wanli period contains Ryukyu language.

Zhang Xueli, the册使 [investiture envoy] of our dynasty, also briefly recorded it in his miscellaneous notes. Now I make minor corrections based on his text.
The phonetic correspondences are inconsistent, and in matters of light-heavy and clear-muddy tones, errors are ultimately unavoidable.
