英語訳
Tarosuke
finally
regularly visits
the pleasure house
day after day,
so the courtesan
treats him as
quite a profitable
customer
and takes good care of him.
When he doesn't come
for two or three days,
she receives sake from seven shrines,
arranges letters,
has her hair done,
puts away oars
in the chest of drawers,
and feels like calling
for someone to wait for.
Meanwhile, Tarosuke's
wife, troubled by
his nightly visits
to the pleasure quarter,
asks for expedients
to make him settle down
at home a little,
and performs prayers
to keep him home.
One side tries to call him,
the other side tries
to keep him away.
Pulled by both
earnest intentions,
Tarosuke becomes
frozen midway.
The pleasure-soul says:
〽What's this, just from across the way, the incense from pipes
causes a standstill,
sheesh, what a bother
Are the wives getting jealous?
Well then, such
troublesome mountain goddesses
should be thrown
into hell's river
along with the prayer streamers
from purification rituals

〽Those who are not far away
are near Mount Otoko,

your manhood rots
in sweet cooking wine

when one sho becomes
seven weeks of emotion,
the sake also lasts,

a four-to cask
for the head

ah, the opposing sake

go home, go home
