…suddenly fell gravely ill (and, grievously,) died of illness on the ninth day of the fourth month at that place — so this person reported, and we have duly received this notification. At that place, the Ainu brought the remaining fourteen persons to the location called Atsukeshi on the twentieth day of the sixth month. On the third day of the eighth month of this year, the personal vessel of Lord Shima-no-kami arrived at Atsukeshi, and there the said persons were given care, brought aboard the vessel, and arrived at Matsumae castle town on the twentieth day of the ninth month of this year. Having duly received and confirmed the full particulars of the above, Lord Shima-no-kami's office provided financial assistance, furnished travel funds, and dispatched these fourteen persons with an escort as far as the Tsugaru domain. As they are now for the most part making their way up [to Osaka], the above being without any irregularities, we present this [document] as stated. Respectfully submitted.
