The animal has five stripes running along its entire body, as depicted in the sketch from life. The *Jibutsu Konju* [#2] states that it "resembles a *sekko* (stone tiger)." Another account notes that the *Qingwenjian* refers to it as the "*kajin nezumi*" (splendid brocade rat).
