現代語訳
松前・箱館あたりでは、積雪になると、子どもたち（男女）が坂のある場所に集まり、図のように深い雪の坂から滑り下ることを遊楽とする。滑るとき、皆声々に「されよ、されよ」と言う。〔#1〕

Around Matsumae and Hakodate, when snow accumulates, children (boys and girls) gather at places with slopes and, as shown in the illustration, make a sport of sliding down snowy hillsides. While sliding, they all cry out together, "Sareyo! Sareyo!" [#1]
