女子は、市中・村里ともに髪を長くし、美しく艶やかで細腰な者が多い。とはいえ、衣服はアットゥシ、または図のように刺繍（さし）を施したものもあり、また白木綿の服を着るものもある。前垂れ布の紐を広くして、帯の代わりともしている。

**[The Appearance and Clothing of Ezo Women]**
Women, whether in towns or villages, mostly wear their hair long, and many are beautiful, lustrous in complexion, and slender-waisted. As for their clothing, some wear attush, or garments with decorative stitching as shown in the illustration, while others wear white cotton garments. They use a wide-strapped apron cloth in place of an obi sash.
