きこゆるなとかのくえんしの建立
ありし姫宮の持仏堂も思ひ出られ
てあはれなりされは朝市のふる
ものあつかひよと人いふめれとたゝに
やはとて長嘯子のえらひ給へる諸虫
歌あはせの跡を追て恋のこゝろの
され歌をのはへ侍るにとかくして夜も
ふけ侍し江山風月常のあるしなけ
れは地しろをせむる大屋もあらねと
草のむしろのまらうとゐはなく虫
こそあるしなれとてつゆけき方
にうちむかひてねもころにぬかつきて
立ぬこれなん三百六十のひとつ

聞こえるなど、かの公卿の建立された
姫宮の持仏堂も思い出されて
哀れである。されば朝市の古物
扱いよと人は言うようだが、ただに
やはということで、長嘯子が選び給うた諸虫
歌合の跡を追って、恋の心の
戯れ歌を述べ侍るに、とかくして夜も
更け侍った。江山風月の常の主人もいな
ければ、地代を責める大家もいないが、
草の筵の客人といっては鳴く虫
こそが主人であるということで、露の多い方角
に向かって、心を込めて拝礼して
立った。これなん三百六十のひとつ
仲間の名誉なことであろう。

can be heard, and even the personal Buddha hall of the princess
built by that court noble comes to mind,
evoking pathos. While people may say this is like
dealing in old goods at the morning market, simply
because of this, following in the footsteps of Chōshōshi's selected insect
poetry contest, as I compose playful songs of love's heart,
somehow the night has also
grown late. Though there is no usual master of rivers, mountains, wind and moon,
nor any landlord demanding ground rent,
speaking of guests on grass mats, the singing insects
are indeed the masters. Facing toward
the dewy direction, I bow deeply
with sincere heart and stand. This must be one of the three hundred sixty,
an honor among companions.
