現代語訳
さて白隠しは一枚絵と修験して、めでたく収まったが、赤本・黒本がこの度の悪だくみは、一体雑なものゆえ、本の仕立てが悪いから、天井にひずみがあると上機嫌にかけて、立ち直し、千枚通しで打ち抜いて、天井を取り直しされる、忙しい暮れの仕込みのごとくなり。
さてまたこの度の騒動の起こりは、八文字より読み本・講釈・拍子の下り絵本が陰謀ということが現れ、「こんな古風なものは唐櫃絵と一緒にして、腰張りにされ、下り絵本はみな顔へ無駄書きをされ、綴じ目をネズミに食い切られ、屏風の下張りになる」
つれづれ草は東寺千軒・源氏物語の仰せを受け、地本どもに下知する。
黒・赤本が根性を綴じ直されてより、元のごとく繁盛する。
やぶ文集が筆先を見ておけ。
読み本は化けて、ついでに講釈・拍子もやわらかそう。
赤恥をかくということ、この赤本が始まりなり。
黒本も、もうひずみは直った、早引き。

Now, Shirakakushi (White Concealer) practiced mountain asceticism with Single-sheet Print, and things settled down peacefully.
