現代語訳
一休が常々おっしゃるには、「我は何事も悟った身なれば、この真宗庵にて全大出世すべからず」とのたまう。
しかしながら、しかり一代のうち名誉のことも書き置かせ給う。和尚が□は□□□□なり。みずからおっしゃるには「我は左道の再来なり」とて、その他□□ぎなることを書き置かせ給うこと多し。その内、遺言の奥に「我獅子にて百年過ぎ、もろこし（中国）より□んし、帰葬場は我が再来と思え。また二百余年にあたる年、我が屍骸を掘り出してみるべし。もし形朽ちたるばい、必ず偽りと思いて」書き置きしことども見□□□中すべし。人から□□□ねまじ□あ□□□□今年百八十三年になると なり。
時に隠元禅師来朝なり【より？】百年あまりとおっしゃったので、相違なし。隠元は一休の再来か。やしかれば二百年目は今十七年なり。この屍骸も損ねまじ。またある文に曰く、寒山の詩をことのほか一代に学び給えば、これすなわち文殊菩薩の再来とも申せん。衆口紛々のご□うは此？一休。
これはかねて我が末後の集散なりとて書き置き給うとかや。
朦々として三十年
淡々として三十年

末後糞を一掴して梵天に捧ぐ

昨月昨日返弁申

「借り置きし五つのものを四つ返し本来空に今ぞ帰づく」
英語訳
Ikkyu constantly said, "Since I am one who has attained enlightenment in all things, I should not seek great worldly success in this Shinshu-an hermitage."
However, he did write down matters of renown throughout his lifetime. The master wrote that □ is □□□□. He himself said, "I am the reincarnation of Sado," and wrote down many other □□ matters. Among these, in his final testament he wrote: "I, as a lion, after a hundred years have passed, came from China. Think of my burial place as my reincarnation. Also, in the year that marks two hundred and some years, dig up my corpse and examine it. If the form has decayed, surely think it false." These things he wrote should be seen □□□. From people □□□ should not □□□□□. This year marks one hundred and eighty-three years.
At that time, Zen Master Ingen came to Japan, and since he said it had been over a hundred years, there is no discrepancy. Is Ingen the reincarnation of Ikkyu? If so, the two hundredth year is now seventeen years away. This corpse too shall not decay. Also, according to another writing, since he studied the poetry of Hanshan extensively throughout his life, this could indeed be called the reincarnation of Manjushri Bodhisattva. The various opinions and rumors concern this Ikkyu.
This he wrote beforehand as his final gathering and scattering:
Dimly for thirty years
Plainly for thirty years
Dimly and plainly for sixty years
At the end, I offer a handful of excrement to Brahma
I borrowed
Last month, yesterday, I repay
This month, today
"Of the five things I borrowed, I return four; now I return to the original emptiness"
