現代語訳
馬は生き物であって百匹が百匹、口向き（性格・癖）が同じではない。一匹がよく乗れたといって、他の馬がきっと乗れるというわけではない。女郎もまた同様で、一人が手なずけられたといって、また別の者が手なずけられるというわけではない。ことに駆け馬も残らず乗り尽くしてしまえば、島原、丸山、石垣、縄手など数限りもない女郎に乗れば、いろいろの口向きがあって、馬術の稽古も上達するだろうと、日夜にやって来て、明け方まで稽古をする。
