The estate's gate posts, gates, sliding doors, roof fixtures, and boards located along the public road are all made of cypress. The pillar doors are not much damaged, but the roof fixtures are extremely deteriorated. On the 25th day of the 7th month of the previous Tiger year, due to strong winds, the roof beams were blown and broken, appearing unsightly from the public road. When I went for the autumn crop inspection, I recalled that when the aforementioned estate house was sold off in previous years, the guardian hall's fixtures were not sold. A shed was built and the fixtures were stored in the warehouse. I humbly considered whether it would be acceptable to use these for the gate's upper fixtures for the repair. Matching [the stored fixtures] with the repair materials - carpenter wages, sawyer wages, nail costs - the expenses would not be excessive. I humbly wished to have the repair ordered so that only the gate would be made resplendent without appearing unsightly. When I inquired about this matter to the heads in the 9th month, I received a reply in the 10th month with instructions to plan the use of the old fixtures from the guardian hall and estimate the expenses. When I took bids from carpenters and sawyers last winter, perhaps because it was the year-end rush, there was only one bid each from carpenders and sawyers, and nail prices were also high. So again this spring I took bids for carpenter and sawyer wages, and since nails were needed in small quantities, I obtained price quotes from Okazaki town and Kōfu town. The expenses have decreased considerably compared to last winter. [Abbreviated below]
