現代語訳
《題：愚直国》
和荘兵衛はほどなく降り立ったが、この国の人は他国の子どものように愚かで素直である。ゆえに愚直国と名付ける。国の人は欲深さや名誉欲を知らず、名門の心もない。その代わりには愚かで物事を理解せず。
さて、この国は他国と違うことが多い。この国の星は雨の降る穴で、星の中から雨が降るのである。かまぼこはそのままで海の中を泳いでいる。鰹節は牛の角である。また、この国の天上は天竺と一つで、天上を天竺といい、天竺を天竹ともいう。また、オランダ人でも琉球人でも、異国の人はみな唐人だと思っている国である。

「この間は時化で半分も浮かなかったが、今日はとても良いかまぼこが来た。野田へやったら良い儲けが取れるだろう」
英語訳
《Title: The Land of Foolish Honesty》
Wasōbei soon descended, and the people of this country are foolish and naive like children from other lands. Therefore, it is named the Land of Foolish Honesty. The people of this country know neither greed nor desire for fame, and have no aristocratic aspirations. Instead, they are simple-minded and do not comprehend things well.
Now, this country differs from other lands in many ways. The stars of this country are holes through which rain falls, and rain falls from within the stars. Kamaboko (fish cakes) swim as they are in the sea. Katsuobushi (dried bonito flakes) are ox horns. Also, the heavens of this country are one with Tenjiku (India), where heaven is called Tenjiku and Tenjiku is also called Tenchiku. Moreover, whether they be Dutch people or Ryukyu people, all foreigners are thought to be Chinese in this country.
"Today the sea is calm, so quite a lot of kamaboko have come ashore."
