一つ、願人が申し上げます。私どもの生業につきましては、上野国赤城山麓の村々に住居いたし、荒石の切り出しを生業としてまいりました。この株については、以前より六軒で取り決め、武州・下野辺りまで牛馬・川船にて運送し、売りさばく商売でございます。一同相談の上で、重量・寸法・値段等を取り決め、規定を定め、各自が切り出した分を仕切り合い、支障なく勘定を済ませて帰国いたしておりました。ところが、近年、右の三郎兵衛が重大な規定破りを行い、生業が成り立たなくなり、商売をやめるほかないと考えておりましたが、これまで手広く商売をいたしておりましたので、残金はございますが、規定が破られ勘定等が成り立たず難渋いたしております。よって一昨年中に右の三郎兵衛に対し申し立てを

One matter that the petitioner respectfully submits: Regarding our livelihood, we have resided in villages at the foot of Mount Akagi in Kozuke Province and have made our living by quarrying rough stone. Concerning this business license, six households have made agreements from long ago, transporting the stone by ox, horse, and river boats to areas around Bushu and Shimotsuke provinces for sale. After consultation among all parties, we established regulations determining weights, dimensions, prices, and other matters. Each party would settle accounts for their quarried portions, complete accounts without hindrance, and return home. However, in recent years, the aforementioned Sabrobei has seriously violated the regulations, making it impossible to conduct our livelihood. We thought we had no choice but to cease business, but since we had been conducting business on a large scale, although we have remaining funds, the violation of regulations has made it impossible to settle accounts properly, causing us great difficulty.
