存じ上げております。
一、酒造家の件につきまして、先年は町方に十四、五軒もございまして、八百石余りの酒株を所持し、酒造りをいたしておりましたため、甲州や武州、その他近国へ専ら販売し送っておりました。その代金が町方へ入金いたしましたため、一同の資金融通にもなっておりましたところ、次第に町方が衰微し、右の酒株も大半は在中へ譲渡してしまい、その時点では相応の酒造りをするものは二、三軒しかございません程の状況で、嘆かわしく存じております。
一、先年は町方に適度に富裕な町人もおりまして、三都または諸国より多くの商品を仕入れ、在町へ卸売りいたしておりました。特に綿太物の類は上方より大量に入荷し、町中の小店まで配達し置き、その代金を二季ほどで回収いたしておりましたため、一同の資金融通になっておりましたところ、この頃では少しずつの綿古太物を甲州諏訪その他飯田松本より現金で仕入れている状況でございます。

Regarding sake brewing houses: In former years, there were fourteen or fifteen establishments in the town quarters, possessing sake brewing licenses totaling over 800 koku. Because they produced sake and specialized in shipping it to Kōshū, Bushū, and other neighboring provinces, the proceeds from these sales flowed into the town, providing financial liquidity for everyone. However, as the town quarters gradually declined, most of these sake brewing licenses were transferred to rural areas, and at that time only two or three establishments were conducting decent sake brewing operations. This situation is truly lamentable.
In former years, there were also moderately wealthy townspeople in the town quarters who procured large quantities of goods from the three major cities or various provinces and wholesaled them to country towns. In particular, cotton textiles and similar goods were imported in large quantities from the Kamigata region and distributed even to small shops throughout the town. Since payment for these goods was collected over about two seasons, this provided financial liquidity for everyone. However, nowadays we procure small quantities of used cotton textiles for cash from Kōshū Suwa and other places like Iida and Matsumoto.
