現代語訳
艾屋の息子が頼朝であることを、時政は以前から知っていたことなので、政子と祝言を整えて喜んだ。さて、政子姫の病気が早速本復したのは、永持道意が艾を三舛据えたからであるので、艾屋には三升を家の紋所にせよと下賜された。並びに平氏の「平」の字を褒美として取らせた。
さて又、三舛の灸を退屈なく据えたのも、山内屋孫兵衛が草双紙を勝々見給ったからなので、孫兵衛は道意と同様の功績だということで、孫兵衛には江の島の弁才天より賜った三つ鱗の紋所を褒美として与えられ、長く定紋にせよと申し渡された。
身不肖の私どもへ鱗形の紋所、平の字を賜ること、身に余りまして、ありがたく存じます。

英語訳
Since Tokimasa had long known that the son of the moxa shop was Yoritomo, he arranged the marriage ceremony with Masako and rejoiced. Now, Princess Masako's illness was quickly cured because Nagamochi Doi had applied three masu worth of moxa, so the moxa shop was granted the three masu (升) as their family crest. Additionally, they were allowed to take the character "平" (Taira) as a reward.
Furthermore, the fact that the three masu of moxa treatment was applied without boredom was because Yamanouchi-ya Sonbei had been eagerly reading popular books (kusazōshi), so Sonbei, having the same merit as Doi, was granted the three-scale crest received from Benzaiten of Enoshima as a reward, and was told to make it his permanent family crest.
For us unworthy ones to receive the scale-shaped crest and the character "平" is more than we deserve, and we are deeply grateful.
