両御□□様へ御礼まで勤め仕りました。
文化九年申年九月、人相書をもって連絡いたします。肥後国熊本金屋町の嘉治平という者が、同年六月九日に同国熊本米屋町市の糸屋俊十郎の供として雇われ、京都木屋町二条下る二丁目に滞在していた際、同人に手傷を負わせて逃走いたしました。俊十郎は死亡いたしましたが、当年正月十五日に肥後国益城郡下横辺田村において、俊十郎の息子平左衛門が父の仇である右の嘉治平を討ち取りましたので、もはや尋ね求める必要もございませんが、この件を関係各所に触れ知らせるべきです。

We have completed our duties including paying respects to both honorable lords.
In the 9th month of Bunka 9 (1812), year of the monkey, we report through a person identification document: A man named Kajihei from Kanaya-machi, Kumamoto in Higo Province was employed as an attendant to Shunjūrō of Itoya in Komeya-machi, Kumamoto in the same province on the 9th day of the 6th month of the same year. While staying in Kiyamachi Nijō sagaru ni-chōme in Kyoto, he wounded the said person and fled. Shunjūrō died from his injuries, but on the 15th day of the 1st month of this year, in Shimoyokobeta village, Mashiki district, Higo Province, Shunjūrō's son Heizaemon took revenge for his father by killing the aforementioned Kajihei. Therefore, there is no need to continue searching for him, but this matter should be announced to all relevant parties.
