現代語訳
大江の正房は文章博士となり、日々公卿において講釈がある。菅公の御作の『九官鳥』のことは、その頃から読まれたので、聞く人は日々堪えがたかった。
〽板野の説法に申す、有郷という所で菅公の作の『九官鳥』を読ませよう。まず天下国家を治めます政治と申すは、時と勢と位との三つを得ねばなりません。例えば春鯉が登りを上るようなものだと、菅公の『九官鳥』に詳しくお書きになされて指し置かれた。
〽菅公はありがたい御人だ。近頃での賢人だ。修行・講談というものだ。
〽反魂丹の事かえ。
〽日々出席の者の名前を帳面に記す。
〽経書一枚がわずか四つ時（八時間）、毎日の公卿に相務まります。

Oe no Masafusa became a Doctor of Literature, and there were daily lectures among the court nobles. Regarding Minister Sugawara's composition "Nine Official Birds," since it had been read from that time, those who heard it found it unbearable day after day.
〽In the sermon at Itano, let us read Minister Sugawara's composition "Nine Official Birds" in a place called Arisato. First, the politics of governing the nation and realm requires obtaining three things: timing, power, and position. It is like a spring carp climbing upstream - this was written in detail by Minister Sugawara in his "Nine Official Birds" and left as guidance.
〽Minister Sugawara is a most grateful person. He is a wise man of recent times. This is what we call training and lectures.
