現代語訳
延喜の聖主菅公の賢者正房の大儒学のように合体したので、結桂雲閣より諸侯太夫庶人に至るまで、文を右とし武を左にして、この頃までは仮名付きの四書五経を読まれたものが、今では仮名書きの四書五経へ信字を付けて颯々と唱読する。
経済には漢比詩の飲むには検非使の事だ。
学中僧寺はまた格別面白い。学中よりは中洲の仮宅の方が晴れ晴れとして良かった。
学問の道は日々盛んになり、孝悌忠信の道が盛んに行われ、この御代に延喜式、延喜格の書も出来上がった。
〽菅公御作の九官鳥の言葉も梓に散りばめられ、あまねく世間に行われる。

The combination of the sage lord Sugawara no Michizane of the Engi era and the wise scholar Masafusa's great Confucian learning created a unity, so that from the Ketsukei Unkaku pavilion down to feudal lords, high officials, and commoners, all placed literature on the right and martial arts on the left. Until recently, people read the Four Books and Five Classics with kana annotations, but now they chant and recite them vigorously with faith marks added to the kana-written Four Books and Five Classics.
For economics, it's about Chinese comparative poetry; for drinking, it's about judicial inspectors.
The temple schools are particularly interesting. The temporary residence in Nakanoshima was more cheerful and pleasant than the schools.
The way of learning flourishes day by day, and the path of filial piety, fraternal respect, loyalty, and trustworthiness is vigorously practiced. In this imperial reign, the Engishiki (Procedures of the Engi Era) and Engi-kyaku (Engi Regulations) have also been completed.
