現代語訳
鎮西八郎為朝は、保元の夜戦で伊藤五郎と同六郎の両人の胸板を射抜いた強弓使いであるから、その教え方は格別である。戦場での弓は人を相手にするものであるから、じっとしていられる人は一人もいない。よって大的や顔的などでは良いものではない。そこで万国の図にある、腹に穴のある人を呼び寄せ、具足を着せて吊るし、動かして働く所を、具足の上から射貫かせる。
【矢を射ている人の台詞】
「丁度いったか。へそではないか、へい」
「へその痛い矢に新見世ができて、乙のれんにそれやと書いたは古いの」
【腹に穴のある人の台詞】
「当たりよう。弓なら、されどというはずも、必ず深い矢は御免願いたい。腹わたがたまらぬ。腹わた様は無理なことおっしゃる。腹が痛くはよしの辺ございますれば、どうだ、どうだ」
吊るされて動かすところは、まったく難金操り（人形浄瑠璃）だ、さんば〜
英語訳
Chinzei Hachiro Tametomo, who shot through the chest plates of both Ito Goro and Ito Rokuro during the night battle of Hogen, was such a master archer that his teaching method is exceptional. Since archery on the battlefield targets people, there is no one who can remain perfectly still. Therefore, large targets or face targets are inadequate. So he summons people with holes in their bellies as shown in maps of foreign countries, dresses them in armor, hangs them up, and has them move around while practicing shooting through their armor.

The part where they're hung and made to move is exactly like nankin puppetry (bunraku), sanba~
