現代語訳
この時万吉は光源氏や在原業平といえども我が色香には及ぶまいと高慢になっていたので、鼻が異常に高くなってしまった時、
どこからともなく天狗が来て雲の中へ連れて行った。
万吉の行方が分からなくなったので、万右衛門は大いに嘆き、出入りの祈祷師や陰陽師を呼んで占わせた。
【祈祷者の台詞】
「これはあまりに日頃のご高慢が過ぎましたゆえ、天狗が誘い出して連れて参ったものと見えます。されながら三十日の内にはお帰りになると、頭の面に見えます。」
【父・万右衛門の台詞】
「あまりに高慢に育て上げたのが、今では大きな災いとなりました。どうか早く帰るように、ご祈祷をお願いします。」
