現代語訳
大山の大天狗が万吉をさらって来て、「お前の高慢は度を越えている。まずお前が自慢の相撲の腕前を見よう」と、木の葉天狗の子供たちの中で五歳になる豆天狗と相撲を取らせた。万吉は手もなく投げられ、この時鼻を地面に打ち付けたので、鼻が少し低くなった。

「はて、これではいけない。鼻は一体どうしたことか。木の根がまさしくどこかにあるのだろう。鼻が鼻端痛い」

英語訳
The great tengu of Mount Oyama abducted Mankichi and said, "Your arrogance has exceeded all bounds. First, let us see your boasted sumo wrestling skills." He made him wrestle with a bean-tengu (small tengu) who was five years old among the children of the tree-leaf tengus. Mankichi was easily thrown, and when his nose struck the ground, it became somewhat lower.
