近年村役人共え御預ヶ被成被差置候所ニ常々
油断ニ而山守又は村中惣百姓男女子共迄
不申付候而差置候故御林猥ニ麁末ニ罷成苗木
等茂生立不申大小之木ニかきらす極印も無
御座二三年柴之切蕪ハ不及申此頃之新敷
切蕪等御座候而此度逢御吟味申山守りハ
不及申村役人共迄日頃油断故ト御不審之御
しかり可申様も無御座候自今村中惣百姓
男女子共迄急度申付候而山守之外ニ柴かり
木之葉かき不及申下薮木下草ニ而も一切入
申間敷候若不届者御座候而御林之内へ参候而

次第ニ参候而よきなたかま押取其者も搦置
早速御訴可申上候若又他領之者参候而

近年、村役人どもへお預けになり置かれた所に、常々油断により、山守または村中総百姓男女子供まで申し付けないで差し置いた故、御林がみだりに粗末になり、苗木等も生い立たず、大小の木にかかわらず極印もございません。二三年の柴の切り株は申すに及ばず、この頃の新しい切り株等もございまして、この度御吟味に遭い申し上げます。山守は申すに及ばず、村役人どもまで日頃の油断の故と、御不審の御叱りを申す様もございません。今より村中総百姓男女子供まで厳しく申し付けまして、山守の外に柴刈り・木の葉かきは申すに及ばず、下薮・木下草であっても一切入り申すまじく候。もし不届き者がございまして、御林の内へ参りまして柴刈り・木の葉かきする者がございましたら、見聞きし次第に参りまして、良い鉈・鎌を押し取り、その者も搦め置き、早速御訴え申し上げ候。もしまた他領の者が参りまして不届きをいたしましたら、持ち道具ばかり取り置きまして、その者をば少しも傷めず、名前・帳に承り届けまして、その村の名主方へ

In recent years, [the forest] was entrusted to the village officials and left in their care, but due to constant negligence, neither the mountain guards nor all the farmers in the village, including men, women, and children, were given proper instructions and were left unmanaged. As a result, the government forest became carelessly neglected, saplings failed to grow properly, and there are no official marks on trees regardless of their size. Not only are there stumps from brush cutting from two or three years ago, but there are also fresh stumps from recent times, and we now face this investigation. There is no excuse for the suspicion and scolding regarding the negligence of not only the mountain guards but even the village officials in their daily duties. From now on, we will strictly instruct all farmers in the village, including men, women, and children, that except for the mountain guards, no one shall enter [the forest] for brush cutting, leaf gathering, undergrowth, or grass under trees. If there are any violators who enter the government forest to cut brush or gather leaves, as soon as we see or hear of it, we will go and confiscate their good hatchets and sickles, restrain the person, and immediately report to you. If people from other domains come and commit violations, we will only confiscate their tools, not harm the person in any way, record their names in the register, and [report] to the headman of that village.
