一　当村川原おたい久保与申御林南ハ畑切羽ゟ東ハ
　　■ 【芝？】山通り北ハおね道通り松木立之内ハ御林
　　其より又雑木立之内横道下より北ノおね
　　通り南ハ松雑木共ニ南日向之方■共畑切羽迄
　　御林ニ少も紛無御座候然ニ御案内始申候南ノ
　　畑切羽ゟ東芝山山境迄三分通畑高付候由
　　申上候へ共何之証拠も無御座候得は御不審之通
　　御尤奉存候然ル上ハ畑内羽ゟおね道迄御林と思召
　　候段少も申訳無御座候扨又源五右衛門持分之内
　　横道ゟ下ハ御林道上おね道迄ハ内林之由申
　　上候所ニ少も相違無御座候若相違之義申

現代語訳

差し上げ申す証文の事

一、当村川原「おたい久保」と申す御林は、南は畑の切羽より、東は芝山通り、北はおね道通り、松の木立の内は御林でございます。その他、また雑木立の内、横道下より北のおね通り、南は松・雑木共に南日向の方、畑切羽まで御林に少しも紛れはございません。

然るに御案内申し始めました南の畑切羽より東芝山の山境まで三分通り畑高が付いている由を申し上げましたが、何の証拠もございませんので、御不審の通り御もっともと存じ奉ります。

然る上は、畑切羽よりおね道まで御林とお思し召しになられる段、少しも申し訳ございません。

さてまた源五右衛門持分の内、横道より下は御林、道上おね道までは内林の由申し上げました所に少しも相違ございません。もし相違の義を申し上げることがあり、後日御聞きになられましたならば、仰せ上げられ御詮議の上、何分の曲事にも仰せ付けられるべきでございます。後日のため名主・組頭・長百姓・山守・持主の判形の証文、よって件の如し。

Document submitted as testimony:

Regarding the lord's forest called "Otai Kubo" by the riverside in our village: the southern boundary runs from the field edge (kiriba), the eastern boundary follows the Shibayama path, the northern boundary follows the one-dō path, and the area within the pine groves constitutes the lord's forest. Additionally, within the mixed woodland areas, from below the side road to the northern one path, and on the south side, both pine and mixed trees extending toward the sunny southern slope up to the field edge - all of this is indisputably the lord's forest.

However, regarding our initial report that three-tenths of the land from the southern field edge to the eastern Shibayama mountain boundary had taxable field status, we have no evidence to support this claim, so we humbly acknowledge that your suspicions are entirely justified.

Given this situation, we have no excuse for the designation of the area from the field edge to the one-dō path as lord's forest.

Furthermore, regarding Gengoemon's holdings, there is no discrepancy in our statement that the area below the side road constitutes lord's forest, while the area from the road up to the one-dō path is private forest. Should we make any contradictory statements and you hear of this in the future, please conduct a thorough investigation and impose whatever punishment you deem appropriate. For future reference, this document bears the seals of the village head, group heads, senior farmers, forest guardians, and landowners, as stated herein.
