一 当村芦かほら御林之内中道ゟ西ノ方拙者
持分之由申上候所埒不分明候ニ付内証ニ堅キ
証拠等も有之哉与拙者并役人迄御尋ニ候得共
何之証拠も無御座其上御高札立所も持分と
申上候場所ニ立有之ニ付益疑敷御座候与被仰
向後御林ニ可被成候由奉畏御尤奉存候少も

一、当村芦ヶ洞御林の内、中道より西の方、私の持分であると申し上げましたところ、埒が明かず不分明であるにつき、内証に確実な証拠等もあるかと、私並びに役人まで御尋ねになりましたが、何の証拠もございません。その上、御高札の立ててある所も持分と申し上げました場所に立ててあるにつき、ますます疑わしいとのお言葉で、今後は御林にするとのこと、謹んで承り、ごもっともと存じます。少しも御無理とは存じません。後日のため証文、件の如し。

Article 1: Regarding the area within Ashigahora forest of our village, west of the middle road, where I claimed it was my holding, since the matter remained unclear and unresolved, when both myself and the officials were questioned about whether there might be solid evidence kept privately, there was no evidence whatsoever. Moreover, since the official notice board stands in the very place I claimed as my holding, it was deemed increasingly suspicious, and it was declared that henceforth it shall be made into a lord's forest. I humbly accept this and consider it most reasonable. I do not consider it unreasonable in the slightest. This document is for future reference, as stated above.
