度之趣不及申上此度御改御吟味之上
被仰聞候趣承知仕候御林之儀近年村
役人共ニ御預ヶ被成被指置候処ニ常々油断故
山守ハ不及申ニ村中惣百姓男女之子共迄も
不申付而指置候故猥ニ麁末ニ罷成苗木等も
生立不申荒申段逢御吟味可申様も無御座候
自今は御林苗木等生茂り申様ニ可仕候若村中
は不及申他村ゟも不届キもの御座候而御林之
内参候而不届キ仕候ハヽ及見及聞次第ニ参候而
よきなたかまハ不及申取之其者搦置御訴
可申上候若又他領之ものにて御座候ハヽ持道
具計り取置其ものをば少もあやめ不申候而
名前聞届ヶ其村之名主方え断置可申候
惣而不届キ仕候も見逃ニ仕候而重而御改之節
新キ蕪等御座候而逢御吟味於難申訳立ハ
山守りハ不及申村役人共迄何分ニも可被仰付

度の趣旨は申し上げるまでもなく、この度のお改めご吟味の上でお聞かせくださった趣旨を承知いたしました。御林の儀について、近年村役人共にお預けになり指し置かれたところ、常々油断ゆえ、山守はもとより村中総百姓男女の子供に至るまでも申し付けずに指し置いたため、みだりに粗末になってしまい、苗木なども生育せず荒れ申した段、ご吟味にあい申し様もございません。今後は御林の苗木などが生い茂り申すよう致します。もし村中はもとより他村からも不届きな者がございまして、御林の内に参り不届きを致しましたならば、見及び聞き次第に参り、よい鉈鎌は申すまでもなく、これを取り上げ、その者を搦め置き、お訴え申し上げます。もしまた他領の者でございましたならば、持参の道具ばかりを取り置き、その者をば少しも痛めつけ申さず、名前を聞き届け、その村の名主方へ断り置き申します。すべて不届きを致した者も見逃しにいたしまして、重ねてお改めの節に新しい伐採跡などございまして、ご吟味にあい申し訳が立ちがたい場合には、山守はもとより村役人共まで何分にもお申し付けください。

The intent of these regulations goes without saying, and we have understood the instructions given to us following this inspection and examination. Regarding the forest groves, in recent years they have been entrusted to the village officials, but due to constant negligence, not only the mountain guards but even all the peasants in the village, men, women, and children, have been left without proper instruction, resulting in careless neglect. The saplings have failed to grow and the forests have become desolate, leaving us with no excuse when subjected to examination. From now on, we shall ensure that the saplings and trees in the forest groves grow and flourish properly. Should there be any wrongdoers from our village or other villages who enter the forest groves and commit offenses, we will go immediately upon seeing or hearing of such incidents and confiscate not only any good hatchets or sickles but all tools, apprehend the offenders, and report them to you. If they are from other domains, we will only confiscate their tools, not harm the persons in any way, ascertain their names, and notify the headman of their village. Should we overlook any wrongdoers and new tree stumps or damage be discovered during subsequent inspections, making it difficult to provide an acceptable explanation during examination, please impose whatever punishment you deem appropriate on not only the mountain guards but also the village officials.
