1. In the villages of private domains, even if the inspection officials (junkenshi) stay overnight, there is absolutely no need for temporary shelters or preparations, and changes of clothing are also unnecessary. Old items are acceptable. For dining utensils and such, one may borrow what is normally used. 1. If there are not even three houses suitable for lodging in one village, temples may be used, or it is acceptable even if separated by villages. 1. For rice, miso, salt, firewood, as well as sake, side dishes, oil, vegetables, etc., needed at lodging and rest places, these should be sold according to the local market prices. 1. Commercial goods not available locally must not be procured from elsewhere with money for sale. Not only clothing and various tools, but even sake and side dishes brought from elsewhere for sale are strictly prohibited. 1. The aforementioned officials will not accept gold, silver, rice, money, or clothing, needless to say, and even sake, side dishes, sweets, etc., are not to be received at all. Therefore, even privately, gifts must strictly not be given, and this should be ordered to those in the fief. If it is heard that gifts were given privately, it will be subject to punishment, so this point must be firmly ordered. 1. No matter where they conduct inspections, gifts from private domains will not be accepted at all, so not only gifts, but sending messengers or couriers is also unnecessary. 1. From the aforementioned officials' retainers down to the lowest ranks, they have been told not to purchase clothing, various tools, etc., in the countryside, so understand this intent.
