If such a person as described above is found, detain them at that location. For public lands, report to the magistrate; for private domains, report to the domain lord or local administrator, and from there make a report to Magaribuchi Kai-no-kami's office in Edo. If you hear or see anything, also report that matter. Of course, retainers and servants should also be carefully investigated. If anyone conceals such information and it becomes known from elsewhere, it will be considered a punishable offense.
Fifth month of the year of the Boar
As the above official document has been issued from the government, it shall be proclaimed throughout the town. The above.

Regarding summons papers issued when rural residents are called for interrogation and cross-examination by the magistrate's office: these papers are delivered to Edo lodging houses, which then send them to villages via couriers. The courier fees were previously collected on the spot from those who received the papers. However, recently it has been reported that some people are bringing forged papers, falsely claiming to be couriers from Edo lodging houses and fraudulently collecting courier fees, causing trouble for the villages. Therefore, from now on, courier fees should not be paid on the spot. Instead, after the person who received the summons arrives in Edo, they should negotiate with the Edo lodging house that handled the paper, and the fees should be paid locally. This policy has also been communicated to the Edo lodging houses, so please understand this arrangement.
However, if you notice that a summons paper is completely suspicious, detain the person who brought it and report the matter to the appropriate authorities.
The above was proclaimed in the seventh year of Tenmei (year of the Sheep), but recently there have again been forged papers
