右の者は、昨年の不作（ふさく）に際し、御救い（おすくい）のため、持てる財をもって申し立てを行い、格別のはからいをもって、丁代筋（ちょうだいすじ）の着用を永々（ながなが）と御見え（おめみえ）を仰せ付けられ、早日（そうじつ）より丁代に代わり一刀（いっとう）を帯びることを差し免じられた。なお、引き続き励むべし。以上。

Regarding the above-named individual: in response to last year's poor harvest, [he] made a formal petition, contributing from his own means for the purpose of disaster relief. In recognition of this exceptional service, he has been granted, as a special dispensation, the permanent privilege of wearing [the garments appropriate to] the chōdai rank, and the right to an audience (o-memie). Furthermore, from the earliest opportunity, he has been permitted to wear a single sword (one blade) in lieu of the chōdai [insignia]. He is further encouraged to continue [his diligent service]. That is all.
