右の者、不審な点があるとして吟味に及んだところ、盗品とは知らずに質物として預かり、金子（きんす）を取り替えて遣わした旨を申し立てたが、証人もなく、（品物の）出所も十分に糺（ただ）されず、はなはだ杜撰（ずさん）な取り扱いをしたことは不埒（ふらち）につき、預かっていた品物を取り上げたうえで、押込（おしこめ）を申し付ける。きっと慎しむべきこと。

Regarding the above-named individual: upon investigation into suspicious circumstances concerning him, he claimed that he had accepted the goods as collateral (*shichimono*) without knowing them to be stolen, and had advanced money in exchange for them. However, as he presented no witnesses, and the provenance of the goods was not sufficiently established, his handling of the matter was utterly careless and constitutes an act of misconduct (*furachi*). Accordingly, the goods in his possession are hereby confiscated, and he is sentenced to house confinement (*oshikome*). He shall conduct himself with strict propriety henceforth.
