Regarding the aforementioned persons: they were ordered to serve a penalty (kaka-kin) for the improper and forbidden act of gambling (bakuchi); however, as they are unable to fulfill said service obligation due to illness, by special clemency, a monetary fine (karyō-sen) has instead been imposed upon them. Said fine must be paid within three days.
Twenty-second day of the seventh month [July 22]
In order to show the above to fellow officials, [the document] was also sent to the town representative (chōdai) of Fukuromachi. A receipt was obtained [from Fukuromachi], and [the notice] was delivered in person to Tonoshima Village.
On the fifth day of the eighth month [August 5], the following was proclaimed at the magistrate's office:
