目壱〆文 北原理左衛門
右は、先ごろ手良郷中坪村の百姓・次郎左衛門の儀について、■■村の政右衛門・金左衛門の両人と、相手方との間の前田地（田畑）の件につき、添え肴を持参して願い定（ねがいさだめ）が相整った。よって、立ち入りを申し付け、訴え（双方の言い分）を申し聞かせ、糺（ただ）した上で、役人の内済（ないさい）・所扱いとして取りはからい、向こう（相手方）まで行き届いた。他領に関わる事件につき、御外聞（おそとぎき）もよろしく、彼是（かれこれ）数日、覚え太儀（たいぎ）のことに候。これにより、差し聊か（いささか）御礼として、太夫鳥（たゆうどり）壱〆■を贈る。

Regarding the above: Some time ago, concerning the matter of a farmer named Jirōzaemon from Nakatsubo Village in Tera-gō, and in relation to a dispute over front paddy fields (maedachi) between the said party and two individuals — Masaemon and Kinzaemon of ■■ Village — a formal petition/settlement (negai-sadame) was reached, with offerings (soe-zakana) brought in accompaniment. Accordingly, mediation was ordered, both parties' claims were heard and investigated, and the matter was resolved through internal settlement (naisai) handled by the relevant official, reaching a satisfactory conclusion for all concerned. As this matter involved another domain (taryō), and public reputation (osotogiki) being also favorable, the affair having caused considerable trouble over a number of days, a token of gratitude — one [unit] of taiyu-tori (a type of bird, likely a type of fowl presented as a gift) — is hereby offered in humble appreciation.
