同役中へ見せ、米行用（代金）を本町より相渡し申すべく候。追って受け取り候こと。

右は、町内の治左衛門に不審な点があり、預け置いたところ、みだりに帰宅しようとし、その上逃亡を図るという不埒な行いがあったが、立ち帰らせ、差し押さえを申し出た。これにより、特別の扱いとして、お咎めを猶予した上で押込（謹慎）を申し付けた。
八月晦日
右の平十郎が郷宿（旅人の宿泊・世話をする役）の件につき、八右衛門およびその他の郷役人が御用のために参ったが、いずれへ飲み（＝頼み）相頼み、押込中は見合わせるべきかどうか。もっとも、八右衛門については止宿（宿泊）の件についてご容赦くださるかどうか、御物書様（書記役の役人）まで伺い申し上げたところ、八右衛門については止宿のままでも宜しく、他郷の処の上図（指図）に差し置くよう仰せ聞かされたので、組頭へこの旨申し渡し置いた。

Regarding the above: there were suspicious circumstances concerning Jizaemon within the town, and he had been placed under custody. However, he attempted to return home without authorization and furthermore attempted to flee — a most improper act. Despite this, he was brought back and placed under restraint. In consideration of the circumstances, as a special measure, he was pardoned from further punishment and placed under confinement (oshikomi).
30th Day of the Eighth Month [August]
Regarding the matter of the above-mentioned Heijūrō's role as gōyado (lodging manager for rural visitors), Hachiemon and other gō officials came on official business, but as to where they might seek lodging and whether such arrangements should be suspended during the period of confinement — regarding Hachiemon's lodging, we inquired with the Omononkaki-sama (the official scribe/clerk) as to whether an exception might be granted. We were informed that Hachiemon's continued lodging was acceptable, and that matters concerning other rural districts should be left to their own discretion. This has accordingly been communicated to the kumigashira (group leader).
