博奕手合召捕之節其帰
逃去立帰候始末其上先年も
度々手合宿も致し候段
重々不埒に付急度可申付所

作兵衛、同（じく）南割善兵衛、
霜町又三郎、外四人は、
博奕の手合いを召し捕らえる節、その場から
逃げ去り、立ち帰った始末、その上、先年も
度々手合いの宿も致した段、
重々不埒につき、急度申し付くべきところ、
格別の御用捨をもって、過料銭を
申し付け候。
一、右の者の親類・組合・
隣家の者は、博奕の手合いのこと、
知らなかった者はいないはずであるところ、
等閑に打ち過ごした段、不埒につき、
過料銭を申し付け候。
一、丁代・組頭共の儀、御請国筋
（にて）相認められた者が有之候て、厳重（以下次丁へ続く）

【Left folio】
Sakubei, and likewise Minamiwari Zenbei,
Shimomachi Matasaburō, and four others —
at the time of the arrest for gambling,
they fled the scene and only returned later. Furthermore, in previous years as well,
they had on numerous occasions hosted gambling sessions [at their residences].
As this conduct is utterly outrageous, they ought to be punished most strictly;
however, as a special act of leniency,
they are hereby sentenced to pay a fine (karyō-sen).
Item: As for the relatives, neighborhood group members, and neighboring households of the aforementioned persons — there should have been none among them who were unaware of the gambling that was taking place; yet they negligently allowed it to pass without reporting it. As this is an outrageous matter, they are hereby sentenced to pay a fine.
Item: Regarding the town representatives (chōdai) and neighborhood group heads (kumigashira) — as there were among them those who had acknowledged [receipt of] official instructions from the domain... strictly... (continues on the next folio)
