In recognition of [his] exceptional standing, this time [he is] hereby granted the privilege of carrying a sword (帯刀) in conjunction with his role as town provisioner (machi-okuri), and is directed to continue in his duties as town deputy (chō-daiyaku) as before. Understanding this, [he] should henceforth attend carefully to the timing [of matters], and must by no means be negligent in handling the said affairs; [he is] to conduct himself with ever greater diligence.
Eleventh month, twenty-fifth day
The above has been duly ordered by the Honorable Magistrate's Office. [This] is hereby conveyed to the town deputy's administrative officer (chō-dai gyōji).

Regarding the matter of raising the post-horse and porter fees (jinba-chinson) at the post stations along the Five Highways — as notice was duly circulated this past ninth month — the same shall apply to the roads and routes throughout the provinces (wakō-kanro), from the coming first month [of the new year]…
