On the twentieth day, upon its being handed down [by the authorities], this was passed along to the hi-yaku [day-duty officials], the kenchi-gyōji [land survey officers], and Yokochō, and the matter was also conveyed to the hikyaku/tenma officials of the three towns.

Regarding the above-named individual: during the third month of this year, without making the required report to the authorities, he purchased chōshi [sake flasks/vessels] from Masu-bushi and sent them on to Matsumoto. As the said chōshi were articles of irregular/illicit origin, [he was at fault in that] he purchased them without investigating their provenance, which constitutes a dereliction [of duty/proper conduct].
