右の御書付三通は、正月八日に高橋応右衛門殿より遣わされたものであり、同役中（同僚の役人たち）と共に町役所にて拝見し、九日の朝、川町・高砂町の民へ、喜七に持たせて相渡した。

五街道の宿々（宿場町）が相次いで困窮に及んでいるため、人馬の賃銭をこれまで追々割増するよう仰せ出されてきたところ、これまでのやり方では（宿場の）経営を維持することが難しい旨をもって、今般それぞれ御仕法（運営の制度・取り決め）が御改正され、当卯年（慶応二年）十一月より、元賃銭の上、六割五分増しとすることが（仰せ出され）――

The aforementioned three official notices were sent by Takahashi Ōemon on the eighth day of the First Month; they were reviewed together with fellow officials at the town office, and on the morning of the ninth day, were delivered to the residents of Kawamachi and Takasagochō by means of Kishichi (a messenger).

As the post towns (shukuba) along the Five Highways have successively fallen into hardship, successive increases to the transport fees for men and horses have been ordered over time; however, as it has been conveyed that continued operation under the existing arrangements is no longer sustainable, the relevant regulations (goshihō) have now been revised accordingly, and effective from the eleventh month of the current year of U (1866), an increase of sixty-five percent (six parts and five tenths) above the base transport fee has been ordered——
