直接、中山道へ御家役の駕籠をご用意の上でお伺いを立て、名古屋へお立ち寄りになり、それより御上洛（京へのご滞在）のご意向でいらっしゃいます。

右の趣、町中へ相触れるべく候。以上。

御家中へお達しの件につき、内々（ないない）に申し上げます。殿様におかれましては、岩倉よりお呼び出しを仰せ付けられ、中山道へお向かいになり、それより御上洛のご意向でいらっしゃいました。ところが、これまで御不審の筋（疑わしき事情）があり、御帰国の上、（それに）勤めていた者が願い出を申し立てたことにより、お咎めが出ておりました。

（しかしながら、）仰せ付けられますに、この後、兵士として戦場において懸命に務めることにより、その罪をお赦し（宥免）いただけることになりました。

[His Lordship is to proceed] directly to the Nakasendō, having made the necessary inquiries and arranged a palanquin [for official travel], stopping over in Nagoya, and from there proceeding with the intention of going to the capital [Kyoto/staying in the three central cities].

Regarding the above, these matters are to be circulated throughout the towns. That is all.

Regarding the notification to the domain retainers [御家中], the following is communicated in confidence. His Lordship was summoned by Lord Iwakura, and was directed to take the Nakasendō, and from there had the intention of proceeding to the capital [or: staying in the three central domains]. However, there had previously been matters of suspicion [concerning certain individuals], and upon His Lordship's return to the domain, those who had been involved in [those suspicious matters] submitted petitions [for clemency], which had resulted in punishments being handed down.

[However,] it is hereby proclaimed that, going forward, [those individuals] may have their crimes pardoned [宥免] in accordance with their devoted service and performance in battle as soldiers.
