右の御書付は（四月）二十日に御渡しとなったため、同役中へ見せた上で、新町へ相渡した。
四月二十日に掛け替えるよう仰せ付けられた
御高札五枚は左の通りである。
定（さだめ）
一、人たるものは五倫の道を
正しくすべきこと。
一、鰥夫（やもお）・寡婦（やもめ）・孤児・身体の不自由な者を
哀れみ、いたわるべきこと。
一、人を殺したり、家を焼いたり、
財産を盗むなどの悪業を
行ってはならないこと。

Fourth Month (April)
The aforementioned official notice was handed down on the twentieth day (of the fourth month), and after being shown to fellow colleagues, it was forwarded to Shinmachi (the new town district).
The five official notice boards (kōsatsu) ordered to be replaced on the twentieth day of the fourth month read as follows:
Regulations (Sadame)
Article 1. Every person shall conduct themselves uprightly in accordance with the Five Human Relationships (gorin).
Article 1. One shall show compassion and care for widowers, widows, orphans, and those with disabilities.
Article 1. One shall not commit wicked acts such as killing people, burning down homes, or stealing property.
