右の者どもの儀、去る八月十九日に■■町にて火煙が立ち候節、早速駆け付け消防（消火活動）に尽力し候こと、奇特（殊勝）なことにつき、これにより■（酒代）として鳥目百文ずつ下され候。
十月二十七日
右両人の儀は（本人が）罷り出ず候。もっとも御間違いもご座候間、呼び出し相成らず候間、格代（代理）を申し付け候。■七の儀は文四分（文四郎の代）、伊之七の儀は宗左衛門相済み、拝罷（はいきょ）。町十代（？）十三郎を呼び出し、御書き下げ並びに銭百文ずつ相渡し申し候。

The individuals named above, on the 19th day of the 8th month, upon seeing smoke rising in ■■-machi, promptly rushed to the scene and rendered distinguished service in firefighting efforts. In recognition of this praiseworthy conduct, they are each to be awarded one hundred mon (鳥目百文) as a gratuity (sake money).

The two persons in question did not appear in person. As there appears to have been some confusion/mix-up, they could not be summoned directly; therefore, representatives (格代) were appointed to receive on their behalf. For ■Shichi, the representative was Bunshi's portion (代); for Inoshichi, Sōzaemon concluded the matter. Having withdrawn with due respect (拝罷), Jūdai Jūsaburō of the town was summoned, and the written notice (御書き下げ) along with one hundred mon each in coins was duly handed over.
