現代語訳
【右丁】
火消御改（かきえのあらため）、戸田銀蔵様の御■祖父、下総守様の奥方様が御病床のところ、御養生叶わず、一月二十五日、暁の丑の中刻にご死去なされ候。
右は、奥様の御父方の御伯母孫の御続きにつき、御定式の御着服をなされ■■。
これにより、来る十五日まで、鳴物・音曲を相慎み、火元等は別して入念になさるべく候。
右の趣、町中へ申し渡し候。以上。

【Right folio】
The wife (okukata-sama) of the Lord of Shimōsa-no-kami, the ■ grandfather of Toda Ginzō-sama, the official inspector of fire brigades (hikeshi o-aratame), who had been ill, passed away in the early morning at the middle of the Hour of the Ox on the 25th day of the 1st month, having been unable to recover despite medical care.
As the deceased was related to [Toda Ginzō-sama] through [his mistress's] paternal great-aunt's line, mourning attire (go-chakufuku) prescribed by official custom is to be worn ■■.
Accordingly, until the 15th of the coming month, the sounding of musical instruments and entertainment music shall be refrained from, and particular care shall be taken regarding fire hazards and the like.
The above is hereby communicated throughout the town. That is all.
