私の組合の鍛冶屋政八が今春中に家出をしましたので、欠落帳（逃亡者台帳）からの除外をお願い申し上げましたところ、捜索するよう仰せつけられ、あちこち探しましたが、今もって行方が分かりません。つきましては、御水役（連帯責任）をご赦免くださいますようお願い申し上げます。

The blacksmith Masahachi from our group ran away from home during this spring, so we petitioned to have him removed from the kakuraku-cho (absconder registry). We were ordered to search for him and looked everywhere, but his whereabouts remain unknown to this day. Therefore, we humbly request that the go-suiyaku (collective responsibility) be pardoned.
