乍恐以口上書奉願上候御事
私儀去ル元治元子年九月富屋代治名宛
ニ而酒造借請稼方仕候ニ付所持之田地質入仕
右商売仕罷在候処此度御趣意ニ付蒙
御沙汰筋奉畏候然処店貸等多分ニ相成
此儘居村江引込候而者一家難行立難渋
当惑仕候間格別之以御救筋年季約定
之通来ル戌九月迄年延之儀奉歎願候
然ル上者御上様御法度之儀者不及申上
町置之諸役義等ニ至迄堅相守可申候
何卒前願之次第被為聞召訳此上之以
御憐愍年季中此儘御居置被成下

恐れながら口上書を以てお願い申し上げる件
私は去る元治元年子年九月に富屋代治名宛てで酒造借請稼業をいたしますにつき、所持の田地を質入れいたしました。右の商売をいたし罷り在りましたところ、この度のご趣意につき、お沙汰筋を承り恐縮に存じます。然るところ、店貸し等が多分になり、このまま居村へ引き込みましては一家行き立ち難く、難渋当惑いたします間、格別のご救済筋として、年季約定の通り来る戌九月まで年延べの儀をお歎願申し上げます。
然る上は、お上様のご法度の儀は申し上げるに及ばず、町置きの諸役義等に至るまで堅く相守り申すべく候。何卒前願の次第をお聞き召しわけ、この上のご憐愍を以て年季中このままお居置き成し下さいますよう、ひとえにお願い申し上げます。

右願書は同役で評議いたし、治郎左衛門・伊右衛門に相尋ね、両人の申し分を申し上げ、奥書なしでお伺い申し差し上げました。十月九日に奥書をいたし、池田久蔵様へ差し上げ申しました。

Humbly submitting this oral petition
I, in the ninth month of the first year of Genji (1864), Year of the Rat, mortgaged my possessed rice fields in order to engage in sake brewing under lease in the name of Tomiya Daiji. While I was conducting this business, I have humbly received notice regarding the current policy directive. However, as shop rents and other expenses have become substantial, if I were to withdraw to my home village as things stand, my household would be unable to sustain itself, causing great hardship and distress. Therefore, as a special act of relief, I humbly petition for an extension until the ninth month of the coming Year of the Dog, as per the original term agreement.
Should this be granted, needless to say I shall strictly observe His Lordship's prohibitions, as well as all municipal duties and obligations. I humbly beseech you to hear my previous petition and, with your compassion, allow me to remain in my current situation for the duration of the contract term.
