私は多町小原村の近治郎から頂戴いたしました
土地に建物を建て、薬湯を始めたいと存じます。よって

することは筋違いの事につき、願書を下げ渡すので詳しく改めるようにと仰せ聞かされたため、持参いたしました

I humbly request permission to construct a building on the land I received from Kinjiró of Óhara Village in Ōta-machi and to commence operating a medicinal bath (yakutō) business thereon.
Therefore, I submit this petition.

To the Magistrate's Office
On the 28th day of the 11th month, Matsujirō brought [the petition], on the following 29th day an endorsement was written at the meeting office, and on the 30th day it was submitted at the government office through the intermediary of Lord Yamashita Genzaemon. However, [the officials] stated that placing Hyōmazaemon, who belongs to Yosaburo's group, under Yoshiuemon's group would be irregular, so the petition was returned with instructions to revise it thoroughly, and therefore [we] have brought it [back].
