現代語訳
恐れながら
私は不調法者でございますが、思いがけず
組頭役を仰せつかり、有り難い仕合いと存じ、勤めて
おりましたが、去る卯年中より病気のところ、追々
大病となり、組頭の御役を勤めることが困難と存じます。
これにより御赦免くださいますよう願い上げます。

With all due respect,
Although I am an inadequate person, I unexpectedly
received the appointment of group head (kumigashira), which I considered a grateful fortune, and have been serving
in this capacity. However, since the middle of the previous Year of the Rabbit, I have been ill, and gradually
my condition has worsened to a serious illness, making it difficult for me to continue serving in the role of group head.
Therefore, I humbly petition for your forgiveness and release from this position.
