受等ニ而銘々年来所持仕罷有
候処右場所為御見分被遊
御越右山者元来上御林之由段々

現代語訳
柳沢の六か所を、私どもが持参し、または譲り受けなどによって、それぞれ年来所持してまいりました。ところが、右の場所を御見分のためにお越しいただき、右の山は元来上御林である由、段々と御利解をお聞かせいただき、私どもは初めて右の御趣意を承知いたし、恐れ入っております。御林と存じ候えば、中々譲り請け申すべき様もございませんが、人々の持分地所と心得、譲り受けて所持し、薪、家木、刈敷等を自由にしてまいりました義につき、この上御取り上げになられては行き立ち難く、外に山のない者も多く、難義いたします。御沙汰の趣旨では、御林に相違ないならば、一言の申し上げ方もございません。恐れ入りますが、この上は御慈悲をお願い申し上げます。すなわち御林の御境まで御極印をなされた所、少しも申し分はございません。前段申し上げました通り、幾重にも御慈悲筋、御憐憫のところをお願い申し上げます。よって持主連印をいたし差し上げ申すところ、よって件の如し。

We have possessed the six locations in Yanagisawa, which we brought or received through transfer, each holding them for many years. However, you have graciously come to inspect these locations, and we have gradually been informed that these mountains are originally upper lord's forests. We have understood this intention for the first time and are deeply ashamed. If we consider them to be lord's forests, we certainly cannot receive or transfer them. However, understanding them to be people's private lands, we received them through transfer and possessed them, freely using them for firewood, house timber, grass cutting for fertilizer, and such. If they are now to be confiscated, we will face difficulties in making our living, and many who have no other mountains will suffer hardship. According to the purport of your pronouncement, if there is no doubt they are lord's forests, we have no way to make any appeal. We are terribly ashamed, but under these circumstances, we humbly request your mercy. Indeed, regarding the boundaries marked for the lord's forest, we have no complaints whatsoever. As stated in the previous section, we earnestly petition for your compassionate consideration and mercy in every respect. Therefore, the landowners jointly affix their seals and submit this document. Thus, as stated above.
